Lingnan Secondary School’s 100^th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service cum Open Day was successfully held on 19^th November 2022. The Most Revd Dr. Paul Kwong, Archbishop Emeritus of the Province of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui, was the guest of honour and presided at the service. He led different stakeholders to give thanks to the many blessings bestowed upon Lingnan Secondary School (Lingnan) over the past century. Former principals of Lingnan, including Principal Chan Shui Hon, Principal Law Chan Fai, Principal Li Fung Lan, and current Principal Chung Wai Ching shared, with gratitude, the various events that had contributed to the school’s development. Different generations of Lingnan alumnae also shared fond memories of learning and growing up in Lingnan, as well as memorable moments from their times.

There were a range of interesting activities on the Open Day. Through different project and subject-based experiential activities, game booths of various school clubs, and Secondary One information talk, the school showcased Lingnan’s development, ways of learning and teaching, and the school’s approach to whole person education. Among the various activities, the talent show and the indoor rowing competition were particularly well-received. The Open Day was a precious opportunity for teachers, students and alumnae to gather and demonstrate the Red and Grey Spirit and their talents, creating unforgettable memories together. 

The Open Day coincided with the school’s 100^th anniversary celebration. To mark the occasion, a Primary School Basketball Invitation Tournament was held on that day, involving ten primary schools. Mr. Oliver Xu, a Hong Kong A1 Division basketball player, addressed the participants and shared with them the life of a sportsman. Mr. Xu also encouraged the young athletes to overcome difficulties with courage. The event served not only to exude positivity, but also deepen the participating primary schools’ understanding of the strengths of Lingnan.
